We have just completed the migration of our site to our new Virtual Dedicated Server. From what we can tell, everything looks to be in order. Over the next few days, I will be monitoring the site to make sure that everything is indeed working as it is supposed to.
If you notice anything that is not working properly, please send a trouble ticket through the system; or leave a comment here: so we can attend to the needs as quickly as possible.

Site Down During Migration
Hey Everyone:
Just want to let you all know that we had to change the place where the name servers were located (pointing to) while we are migrating our site to our new servers. Hopefully the migration will be completed tomorrow (7/15). I am not sure how long things will take after that...as this is something totally new for us.
I will make another post if things will be delayed futher than that.

The Teck Gods Are Testing Me
I am sure glad that I shave my head...because it would be very painful for me to keep pulling all of my hair out every time I have to deal with yet another tech problem: especially when that problem has been going on as long as this one has. So here is the latest.
I hooked up my computer that had the back up placed on it (from my laptop's hard drive) last night. It took me longer than normal, because I also had to install my UPS to the system, and install the related software to keep my system safe in the case of a power outage. I finished that last night, and decided that I would take a fresh start with entering all of the data back into the LGST system.
So at the appointed time (when I finally got to it this morning): I logged into the site, and noticed that the member's page should be attended to first. I had been keeping updates on my laptop every time I made a change to the member's page (as well as the front page too). So, no problem: I'll just go to the data that I had saved (now on my desk top); and just "re-install" it. So I navigate to the appropriate folder...open up the folder...and NOTHING. Not one file was there. I checked other folders...an again...NOTHING. The more folders I opened...the more nothingness I found.
So here I go again...I called the Best Buy that I had went to, and connected with the Geek Squad. I spoke with Bob, and explained the situation...and a bit of my frustration. He recommended that I bring in both computers (again); and he would handle this personally. But because I don't have access to a car (today); this would be very difficult for me to do. It would mean that I would have to carry my laptop, desktop tower, plus my nephew (I babysit him) and all of his stuff (stroller, diaper bag, etc) with me to catch a bus. And I would have to walk about a mile to even catch the bus in the first place.
So I found out his schedule for the next couple days, and I am going to try to get up there...one way or another. I called and left a message for my daughter, to see if she could take me up there (doubtful)...but have not heard from her yet. When my brother-in-law drops off my nephew: I am going to ask him if he could take me up there. If I can at least get it up there, I should be able to get it back when my wife gets back from work. I guess I will just have to wait and see.
Although all of the folders were without my files...I still was able to find the spreadsheet...which was in a different location. So at least I can start doing that much...I hope.

Finally Got Desktop Back
It seems that I must have upset the "Tech Gods": as it really has not been going well for us in matters of technology. In my last post, I wrote how I needed to take my desktop computer up to the Geek Squad so that they could transfer by backup directly from their computer, to my computer. So on this past Saturday (6/21), I did just that.
When I got there, I was told that now take two hours for them to complete this task; instead of the 30 minutes that I was originally quoted. But hey...I had a little bit of time: so I told them that I would just walk around, and wait there. I just didn't feel like driving back home...just to return in two hours: wasting time and money (gas).
After about an hour of waisting time (and chatting with a guy in the computer dept); one of the "Geeks" (whom I don't sense really cared for me) came up to me and said that they now were not going to be able to get this finished by the time promised. Although I was erked by this latest bad news: I told him that I would just come back tomorrow morning when they opened up (at 10am).
When I returned the next morning at 10:30am: I was now told that they had some problems with the disks that they had originally gave me (duh!!), and now require my laptop again to get the data. WTF!! I had my laptop with me the day before (Saturday); and now I needed to go all the way back home to get it. When I did finally return with it two hours later (I had other errands I had to run also); I was told that it was going to take about 20-30 minutes: but it didn't.
This time, with my wife there: she complained to a manager; and he also asked me what had happened up to that point. Within about 15-20 minutes of our complaint: I was told that it should be ready a little later in the afternoon. It was now 1pm; and we had to get my granddaughter to her ballet recital. I said that I would come back before they closed to get my computers.
So I just did exactly that. During the intermission (after my granddaughter's dance), I lefte and scurried back up there again, and I finally was able to get my computer back. However, the manager nor anyone else really appologized to my satisfaction; nor was I recouped for my loss of time or the aggravation in dealing with their apparent ineptness.
Perhaps this was just a comedy of errors; perhaps not: but I don't think that I will be giving my business to the Geek Squad again; or at very least...not for a long time. Now that I have the computer, I have to set it up again on the network; and I am going to also add a UPS (uninterrupted power supply) to protect the system in the case of power surges or power losses. This is all a part of our attempt to protect our sites, by protecting our computers.
So hopefully tonight I will get this all done, and start back to getting the data entered onto the site. I guess I will need to make a sacrifice to the Tech Gods to appease them...perhapse they will accept my old TRS-80....LOL

Data Currupted
In my last post, I said that I had received the data back from my now defunct laptop's hard drive. I tried several times to retrieve the data from the disks...but to no avail: nothing would happen. So I called the Geek Squad back, and the tech suggested that I bring my entire desktop (tower) up to them: and they will directly transfer the data to my hard drive (they still have a copy on their system).
The problem that I have, or should I say, that I don't have: is that I am without transportation right now. Our only car is not working, and so unless I take a bus to the store...I don't have any way to do it; at least not during the week. But today, we are going to rent a car for the weekend, and take the tower up to the Geek Squad to get this transfer done.
Hopefully, once this is all done, I can get everyones data (UID & Etc). One problem that I just thought of though, is that I do not have the passwords to the accounts. So if I have to rebuild your account, I will have to set a temp password: and then I will e-mail that to all the individuals that were effected.

Received Data Back Today...
Just as a follow-up, I just received my back-up disks (dvd-rom) today from the Geek Squad at Best Buy. However, I have been so busy with everything else that has been going on today, that I have yet to view the data. Before I copy the data onto my desktop, I want to prepare the drive by doing a back-up there first; and also by cleaning up things on the harddrive as well.
I hope to get this all done by tomorrow...and should have everything fixed within the next couple days. I had to disable the signup feature, so as to not mess up the databases while I do a migration. Most people won't be able to log in either, as many of the member's log in information was lost with the hack...and I have to rebuild the membership list from my own records...but this will be done manually...so it will take some time.
Please just be patient with me...and I WILL get this fixed as best as I can ASAP.

Three Strikes, And Your Out
After being awoken in the middle of the night (3am) due to some very bad pain I was having, I decided to turn on the ole "Boob Tube" to see what was on. As I scanned the channels, I saw my home baseball team was playing (re-broadcast). It was the top of the 8th...and my team was winning 6 - 0. In the 9th inning, the other team actually gained two runs...but when all was said and done: it was not enough.
With each batter, they can only get three strikes, and then they are out. And for the team, after three outs...the side (inning) is retired. This analagy has played in my life as well...particualry with my business dealings. And no where can this be exemplified better, than what has been going on over the past week and a half.
To start off: a little over a week ago, I had left my laptop that I use for all of my business activities running on the cocktail table, running as I made a quick errand out of the house. My wife, though not intending on doing any damage: "somehow" got my LT wet...and blew out the motherboard. STRIKE ONE!!
Although all of my data for all of my sites (including passwords) was on that computer: I had never thought of backing up the computer. STRIKE TWO!! I took the computer to the local Best Buy to have the Geek Squad look at it the very next day: and before I even told the tech what happened; he said that the board had been fried. However, it took a week for me (and my wife) to get the money together to pay the $160 to pay for a back up of the drive onto DVD-ROMs. I should get it back by this Monday (6/16)...at which time I can transfer all of the codes and other data that I do have to my desktop computer.
In the mean time, I had to down load all of my e-mails that were sitting on the various servers onto my desktop. There were at least 3,000+ e-mails that I had to go through. When I finally did, I found an e-mail dated 6/12 that said the following:
For the past 3 weeks I have been noticing an increase in 'load' on our server and have spent MANY hours trying to track down and find what has been causing it.
I forked out a bunch of cash and upgraded the memory in hopes that that would solve the problem, but it didn't seem to do much to improve things. I know most of you didn't notice all this as it didn't slow it down THAT much, but I try and keep a very close eye on the server.
Finally, I gave in this morning and paid a consulting firm to take a look.. ONE DAY earlier would have been nice as a hacker managed to get in and wiped out all of our databases. The security hole has been closed by the 'experts' but that doesn't help any of us at this point does it?
The sites and scripts are safe, but the ONLY way for me to get your site back up and running is to restore your latest backups.
Guess we now find out how many of you keep them up. For those of you that didn't we have a problem. The only databases I have on file in MOST cases is the original setup databases.
I will be forking out MORE money at this point ($50.00 per month) to have the entire system backed up daily, but again, this is to little to late.
Backup??? I didn't know or at least realise that I had to do a back up on their hosted side. Perhaps didn't understand things, but I thought that they maintained this...including backups. STRIKE THREE!! I have notified the host that the first thing we need to do, is to get the site back up and running. After that, I will notify everyone of the situation. I don't know yet what the deal is with the credits, or with the site...but I hope to find out soon.
I also told the host that I am planning on moving the site over to my new host, that I have for one of my other sites. This host allows "unlimited sites"...so I am going to take advantage of that. I will keep everyone aprised to all changes as they come along.
Although I have stuck out this week...the inning is not over...nor is the game. I will keep my efforts focused at getting this site back up and running as quickly as possible. It is only the bottom of the 2nd inning...and we still have far to go.

Membership Upgrade Rates Are Going Down
Dear Friends:
Just a quick note to let everyone know that I have drastically slashed the prices of upgrading to a premium membership. Gold memberships can now be purchased for the LOW, LOW Price of only $2.50/month. Additionally, I have lowered the price of the Platinum membership; and changed it from Annual payment to $5.99 monthly...to make it more managable.
To upgrade, log in as normal, and then just click on the link near the top of the page where it shows your current level. If you would like to upgrade your membership, and pay annually, just send a trouble ticket to me, and I will contact you with further details.
So act now, because these prices are subject to change at any time.

Inactive Accounts
This posting was taken from a general message we sent to all members on 5/9/08
Dear Friends:
It has come to my attention that I have made a mistake. Believe it or not, I am not as perfect as I once thought I was. (lol) I had just sent out a batch of e-mails to some of our inactive members (I don't like to delete people, without giving someone a chance); and said that all they had to do was log in, and everything would be alright.
Well, this was wrong, and I would like to thank the members who were nice enough to point this out to me. So if you have received a note from me letting you know that your account was placed on inactive status: please just reply to it, and let me know if you want me to reactivate it. I am sorry for the confusion in this matter. I wish this could have been an automated system, and maybe some day it will be. But for now, this is how we will have to handle it.
In order to keep your account from becoming inactive (not visiting): please visit our site at very least, once per month. I feel that we have a fairly liberal policy here; and I know from personal experience that some people just cannot visit that much. I have been traveling much lately, and I have not been able to visit my sites as well. Should you have any other questions, please visit our Member's Agreement (T.O.S.) and FAQ's. If you still have questions, then by all means do not hesitate in contacting me at once so that I can answer them for you.

LGST Newsletter 080504
Hello Everyone:
Welcome to our second edition of the Lets Get Some Traffic newsletter for 2008. I know that it is already May, but I really have not had much to say up until now. And being that I don't want to send useless e-mails...I thought that it would be prudent to wait until I had something to say...and now I do!!
OLD BUSINESS
I guess I should mention a little bit of business that is on my mind. I have placed it here, because it is an old topic: but one worth repeating. The reason traffic exchanges work, is because of it's members. When the members visit the exchange & view other sites; their site(s) in return are available to be viewed by others as well. But the problem that exchanges face (particularly ours); is when people don't visit: then the sites are not viewed; and everyone suffers.
The individual advertisers suffer because their sites are not being displayed; and the site suffers, because people who might want to join or advertise – won't join/advertise because they won't feel that the site will benefit their advertising objectives. So what can we all do?
Well, we as your administrators constantly strive to get more traffic to this site through a variety of advertising and marketing activities. We are not only the administrators on this site; but we are also members of many other traffic exchanges and pay to sites as well. About 90% of or advertising activities (on these other sites) are aimed at bringing fresh new visitors and members to the site.
And as for you, our valuable members: what can you do? Well, first and foremost: you can be an active participant on the site. This single item will not only keep credits in your account: but it will also keep the site active – thus being more attractive to new and even current members. The second thing that you can do, is to promote your affiliate/referral link http://www.letsgetsometraffic.com/signup.php?XXXX (replace the XXXX with your member number); as well as the banners and splash pages that we have provided for you. You can find all of the current promotional material by navigating to http://www.letsgetsometraffic.com/members/memberpromo.php.
Together, we ALL have the power to make this site into the site that it has the right to be.
HAVE YOU PROMOTED TODAY?!
NEW BUSINESS
We are looking into upgrading our script on this site...making it even better. This new script will include even more functions and benefits for the members: including the ability to earn some extra cash with PTC, PTR & PTP. We also hope to include a forum integrated into the site: making it easier to communicate with not only us; but with your fellow members as well.
We will make further announcements as we know when this will happen, and when & for how long the site will be down during the migration to the new scripts.
PROMOTIONS
Our current promotions have not changed since the beginning of the year. You can check out those promotions by visiting the site and clicking on the individual links in the Current Promotions section to get more information.
I am working on a new promotion that I hope to initiate by June 1st, 2008. Although I am not able to get into too much depth with all of the aspects of the new promotion, I will give a little bit of information on how I am thinking of structuring it as follows.
To encourage the promotion of our site, I have decided that the best way to see that people are actually promoting, is by “checking up” on you. Now that doesn't mean that I am going to be getting in your business....no, quite the contrary. Actually, you will help us in this. In essence, if we find any advertising to our site on another site: the referring member will 1) receive an immediate addition of 100 credits in their account. 2) Will be entered into a drawing on July 4, 2008 for one of up to seven cash prizes (amounts to be announced later).
But how will we know where to look, you might ask. Well, as we mentioned before, we are also members on other TE's & PT sites ourselves...so we might actually run into your link that way. But the best way will be for you to “announce” your links by sending us a trouble ticket telling us where to find your ad; and what type of ad it is (page ad, banner ad or hotlink). Watch the site for more information and announcement of this new promotion: as well as a complete rules & terms.
HOUSEKEEPING
To keep this site up to date and relevant; we try to update the members section at least once a week (usually on Sundays). The Tips & Tip section is specifically designed to give users, and especially the new user: information on how to best use the site. And although we don't update it quite as much, we also try to keep our Member's Agreement/Terms Of Service updated and relevant to the ever changing legal and societal environment (on & off line) that we live in. Because of this, it is a good idea to review our M.A./T.O.S. from time to time; just to be aware of any changes. We will try to advise you of any changes to the M.A./T.O.S. on the site, or in e-mails: but it remains your responsibility to review it on your own.
In our most recent update (dated 4/20/08), we have made quite a few changes in both the terms itself; as well as the format of the page. It will now be much easier to find what you are looking for, as we have added a easy to use navigation system to jump directly to the area of the terms that you wish to review & back to the top. Each section will be designated with a § and section number. This should make it easier when we want to reference a particular point on the site or in correspondences to our members (en mas or individually).
And one last (but extremely) important thing. As we mentioned earlier, it is very important to all when everyone logs in and surfs the sites. When you don't, then we all loose. We have currently a large amount of our membership that have been inactive for quite a long time (months).
According to our Member's Agreement/T.O.S § 5.0:
...Members who don't visit the site at least once a month, will have their accounts put on inactive status... & ...Within 1-4 weeks of being put on inactive status, we will delete your account if you have not visited the site.
We will be notifying all inactive members in the next day or so. Afterwards, we will delete all inactive accounts within about one to two weeks: depending on how long the member has been inactive. We hold no ill wishes for people who choose not to participate on the site: we just need to free up space and bandwidth for those who DO want to participate.
Until our next issue....please be safe, and have a wonderfully successful day.

Traffic Top List
Hey Friends:
In order to get more traffic to this site (and thus, having your ads rotated with more frequency), we have listed our site with TrafficTopList.com. Please take time to rate and review this site. You can do so by going to TrafficTopList.com, and letting the world wide community know about us.
If you have any further suggestions, comments or even complaints: I welcome them all at our forum. You can also send an e-mail to me through the system, but I have been having some difficulty in getting my e-mails from here (still working on this one)...so the forum is probably the best place for now.

Keeping Us Up To Date
It is important that you keep your information updated at all times. This is especially true when it comes to your e-mail address. If your e-mail address is no longer valid, please take the time right away to update it. From the member's menu page, just click on the Member's Information link within the General Member's Functions section. You can update to your current e-mail address there.

We're Baaaak!!
Although I have been online checking the site from time to time, my management activities have been reduced due to some major family crises that have arose in the past month. Additionally, as many of you know, we also experienced a brief suspension of this site. I am happy to say that I have restored the site, and we are back up and running again at full speed.
I am planning a couple of changes to this site as follows:
- I will not be writing in the member section space as much anymore: opting to keep most of our corrispondence through either here in our blog, or in our forum. If you have not signed up for a free membership on the forum, please do so NOW: as there will be items of importance posted there, and no where else. I will write in the member's section on occasion though: but it is my purpose to unclutter this page somewhat...making it easier to get dow to business for our members.
- Additionally, I will narrow down the number of "Former Posts" that I keep links to on this site. Instead, I will only keep about a months of links, with reference to either the blog or forum from which they come from.

Site Back Up
Hey everyone....Just a quick note:
I hopefully have the matter resolved with getting the site back up. The site was only down for about 24 hours...but it was frustrating for all (including myself). There should not be any further problems...unless my bank continues to give me problems. I will be crediting everyone's account with the addition of 100 credits for the loss of service. You should see this credit within the next day or so.
Thank you for being patient during this one day challenge.

I'm Outta Here....!!!
Hey guys. Just wanted to let everyone know that I will be out of town from 1/18 until about 1/27 or 1/28. I am leaving in the moring to pick up a vehicle in Janesville, WI...and drive it to Missoula, MT: about 1,500 mile away. Then after about 40 hours on three different busses...I will arrive back in Chicago just in time to leave once again with my family to Mississippi: where we will be visiting my wife's family.
I will be putting almost 5,000 miles on this old body...so when I get back...I think that I may be due for a major over-haul; and an oil change too!! LOL In the mean time...I may not get the chance to get on here much...but I will try when & where I can. Usually, most of the hotels have wireless....so I hope to get on...at least to see if anyone care or misses me.
Until then...please take good care, and may you be blessed in all you do. Stay safe, and I will return to you shortly.

Music Not On Auto-Play
Hey Friends:
Per a suggestion of one of my readers, I have disabled the autoplay feature of my musical playlist. If you still wish to listen to my musical selection, just click on the play button on the player, and you can listen to it to your hearts content. Additionally, if you want to listen to the playlist even after you have left the site, just click on the Launch Standalone Player, and the music will continue to play, no matter where you navigate to.
Thank you again for being a part of my loyal readers.

LGST Annual Lottery Stats
After a little compiling, I have finally finished updating the lottery stats in graphic form. Because we just bought this site in September, there is not a full year of data presented here. Also, there are a couple of stats from before our official open date...but we have left the data in our presentation just for reference.

New Year's Promotion Update
I would like to give an update, and announce the current standings in this month's referral promotion. As of this moment, we have a tie: with member's # 1032 & 1043 each receiving one referral. Remember to promote your referral link in all of your e-mail correspondences; as well as on in all of the other traffic exchanges that you may belong to: in order to maximize your promotional efforts.
In the case of all ties, the first person to get the tying referral will be credited first. We will use the date and time stamp from our e-mail system; that announces each new referral to determin the winner in such cases. Remember, this promo will run until the end of this month, when we will credit the accounts of our winners: so promote now, and you will reap the rewards next month.
You can see all of our current promotions by logging into your account at www.letsgetsometraffic.com; or by searching for our Promo's directly here.

Referrals Moved Ahead Of New Feature
I went through all of my personal referrals (from my own efforts, separate from the admin); and have moved them all to the admin account. So if you notice that your "referred by" has changed to Admin...you will know why. The main reason for this change is that I will be starting a new promotion...or better yet, a new way to earn more credits on your account.
Starting soon, I will have available "un-referred members" (such as you might find on a Pay To View (PTV) site such as Bux.to or Clix4Coins.com; that you will be able to purchase for your downline. And yes, I said purchase. I have yet to determine the exact price for these referrals: but it shouldn't be much. I will let everyone know as soon as I can figure out a good amount.
But why should you want referrals in your downline, you might ask? Simply put, you can earn even more credits for getting these referrals; plus you will get ongoing credit the more your downline clicks (or at least that is how I think it works...but I will have to check it out further). So this will be another way to generate credits for your account...and thus...to promote your sites or your affiliate's sites.
I hope to have this up and running by the end of the month. I want to check with the developer of the site to make sure that my members get an override on the clicks earned by their downline. Once I know for sure: I will make another announcement here, as well as on the LGST site itself.
